The Court and its Location
The Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals is based at the Elbert P. Tuttle Court of Appeals Building in Atlanta, Georgia. The building is named after Elbert Tuttle, who served as Chief Judge of the court from 1966 to 1981.
Judges and Jurisdiction
The Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals consists of active judges and judges who have retired to senior status but remain on the bench. The court has appellate jurisdiction over cases heard in one of its subsidiary districts, which include Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. These cases can include civil and criminal matters that have been appealed from lower courts.
