Aaron Sorkin: The West Wing Could Not Be Made Today

Sorkin Believes Audiences Would Not Recognize Reasonable Republicans

Political Polarization Makes Show's Premise Unworkable

Aaron Sorkin, the creator of the acclaimed political drama "The West Wing," has stated that he believes the show could not be made today due to the current state of political polarization in the United States.

In an interview with The New York Times, Sorkin explained that he is often asked if he thinks "The West Wing" could still be made in the current political climate. His answer is "yes, for the most part." However, he believes that there is one political factor that would make the show very difficult to produce today: the lack of reasonable Republicans.

Sorkin said that he believes that audiences today would not recognize the reasonable Republicans who were depicted on "The West Wing." He said that the Republican Party has become so polarized that it is now difficult to find Republicans who are willing to work with Democrats in a constructive way.
