Emma Raducanu Withdraws From French Open And Wimbledon

Emma Raducanu withdraws from French Open and Wimbledon

British number one to miss upcoming tournaments due to surgery

Raducanu had been due to make her senior debut at the French Open but withdrew just 24 hours before qualifying was due to begin.

She will miss both the French Open and Wimbledon while she recovers from hand and ankle surgery.

The French Open begins on May 22 in Paris while Wimbledon begins on July 3 in London.

Raducanu said in a statement: "I am very disappointed to have to withdraw from the French Open and Wimbledon. I have been working hard to get back on court and was really looking forward to playing again.

"Unfortunately, I have been advised by my medical team that I need to continue my rehabilitation and rest in order to give myself the best chance of being ready for the US Open and the rest of the season."

Raducanu's withdrawal is a blow to British tennis. She is one of the most promising young players in the world and was expected to make a deep run at both the French Open and Wimbledon.

However, she has been struggling with injuries recently. She withdrew from the Italian Open last month with a back injury and has not played a match since.

Raducanu's withdrawal will give other players a chance to make a name for themselves at the French Open and Wimbledon.
