Zach Arnett Fired as Mississippi State Head Coach
Arnett was fired after just one season
Arnett was hired as head coach in December 2022 after serving as the Bulldogs' defensive coordinator for four seasons.
Arnett's firing comes after a disappointing 4-8 season in which the Bulldogs finished last in the SEC West. Arnett was 3-9 in his lone season as head coach.
Mississippi State athletic director John Cohen said in a statement that he made the decision to fire Arnett after "careful consideration." Cohen said that he believes the Bulldogs need "a new direction" in order to be successful.
Arnett is the second Mississippi State head coach to be fired in the past three seasons. Joe Moorhead was fired in 2019 after three seasons.
